Trouble playing videos with Winamp and Divx...?

Just the other day, both programs ceased to play videos they had just played a day before. I ran a virus scan, a registry cleaner, I uninstalled and re-installed both programs, all to no avail. Upon restarting the computer I can play one video once, and then both programs will once again fail to work. I downloaded a piece of software (Video Inspector) that has confirmed that I have all the necessary codecs. Oddly enough, RealPlayer still works, but I hate it. I am wondering if this is a problem that will require me to alter my registry. Any help out there?

Additional info:

I am running Windows XP

When I open "My Videos," the files are displayed with text only, no thumbnails.

Thanks in advance.

I had the same problem too and I think your media players aren't suited enough to get the job done. Check out this multi-format player that could actually play almost all universal audi and video format: VLC MEDIA PLAYER. You wouldn't even think about rummaging through all that crap ever. Again. It played almost all media files thrown at it with avail. Guaranteed.
Reply:just use windows media player.. as long as you have the codecs they will run in cooperation with windows media player!
