When my PC is connected to the Television via S-Video, everything works fine, there is a picture and everything. I have some downloaded videos that show a picture on the T.V, and then some just come up black, but there is still sound? I have tried many media players such as VLC, Windows media player, Jet Audio, Real Player and many others, still no luck. Whats going on?
What sort of cables could I use instead?
Videos come up black when Pc is connected via S-Video to T.V?
It has nothing to do with cables, you just need to have the right codec installed in your computer to decode the video, heres a link to a free downloadable codec which solved most of my codec problems. more or less this is a complete codec pack.

Reply:The problem may be the type of renderer the media player is using. Download Media Player Classic and try different options on the Player-%26gt;Output sections. (For most files DirectShow Video is likely what it'll be using.) Overlay Mixer and VMR7 are the ones I think most likely to work.

Edit: On second thought, if the videos are showing up black on the PC monitor and not just the TV, then that's a video codec problem. The solution is to find and download the codec. For info on what codec a particular file (particularly AVI files) uses try G-Spot.

Reply:Could need a video codec.. The cables have nothing to do with your problem.
