Trying to put videos from JVC digital video camera to Toshiba Satellite laptop.?

Ive downloaded all the software. Ive followed the directions. They seem to make no sence, about open folders and dragging them.. i do that, but i cannot pull up any video. Is there a easy simple way to connect my Camera via USB to the computer and transfer my video footage? I know the regular scanner and camera wizzard will do still images... why isnt it that easy for video?? Firewire?? what is that? how do i know if i have it? I just cant believe i would have to buy something else, when ive already spent so much on the computer and camera.

any help would be so appriciated... i just want to get some videos on my computer... put them on you tube... simple enough. Please help. Any web sites or info would be great.

Your dv camcorder needs a firewire connection (ieee 1394) in order to download video, your Laptop probably did not come with a firewire port, so you will have to buy one and install it, since most computers (except possibly brand new) don't come with a firewire port, your camcorder did not come with a firewire cord so you have to purchase a cord too. Your camcorder did come with a USB cord and that is used for downloading stills from your camcorder.

The port looks like a smaller USB port.

Your laptop will need a laptop firewire card.
Reply:Sorry to hear exasperation. But you need to post what digicam model you have to get better support. The model number is under the camcorder. Model information starts with GR-

email me the model number so i can help you check if video transfer through USB is supported by your camcorder.
Reply:You don't have to use the Camera's OEM software to access/transfer videos, just the driver(software that makes your PC recognize your camera). Nero or any other video editing software will work. It is true that firewire and USB2.0 works better for video transfer. Good luck.

Does this look good
