Videos To Watch - Young Horse Got Kind of Upset?

Well this was my 4 year old's first time being ridden out without other horses and their riders and I just wanted to see what everyone thought about him. The video is very bouncy, that is becuase of my very bad camera holder!! So i'm very sorry if it is annoying, lol. Also, sorry about the ugly bulky bright yellow sweatshirt, but it has been rifle season you know..didn't want to get show =)

Also, I know the videos are kind of poor, but can you guess what breed my horse is from viewing the video? Thanks =)

Comments are appreciated, good or bad, just not mean please. Thank you

Well not sure what kind of response you were wanting, but yes your horse is being a brat and yes the rider handled it very well.

Tell your videoer to not give up their daytime job lol j//kkk

I would guess Missouri Fox Trotter?? Some kind of gaited horse....
Reply:He's sooo cute! And you look like you have a good seat in the saddle. It looks like he just needs a little more work, but I think you had him under control ;) He looks like a cross of some sort...
Reply:he is for sure gaited, but not a full gaited horse, becasue he is more stocky, and he has a big rump too and walks like my QH..

anyway, he did fine, 4 year olds aren't going to be perfect on their first ride.

ps love the sweatshirt as much as you hate it :)

oh, i am guessing tennessee walker/ QH mix ( looks like my friends horse)
Reply:is your horse a arabian?

lol I liked the bright yellow sweatshirt.

Why was your horse acting up?

the horse is very pretty and gorgeous. I've always wanted a black horse.
Reply:To me he looks like a walker or s walker cross In the frist video i saw him start to do a bit of a running walk. He has the larger feet like a walking horse and the typical kind of plain head shape that you see with that sort. I would see if you could find a gait in there and bring them out. Hes a beauty and it really doesnt matter what you do with him as long as you enjoy him
Reply:You handled him very well! And I'm going to have to say that he's a Tennessee Walker. Beautiful horse, nice riding. Keep up the good work.
Reply:Very pretty horse! If that was his first ride I'm sure he'll be great next summer, it wasn't that bad. He's still a baby. ;]] My 11 year old Appendix acts like that sometimes, lol. Very herd/barn sour. Good luck with the training.

As far as the breed goes I have a couple guesses, all from previous look-a-like-horses I've known in the past.

1. Tennessee Walker or TWH Cross. My aunt worked with one a while ago who looked a lot like that.

2. Since you were riding western, this one seems a little less likely, but worth a try. I'll explain first, lol. My riding instructor recently put down her good ole' gelding who looked almost exactly like yours, but bigger. He was a Friesian x Missouri Fox Trotter or TWH. We were never quite sure. =] His feet aren't feathered but have that stocky/big appearance like the horse I knew did.

3. QH Cross.

Haha. I'll comment your vid on youtube to be sure I hear the correct breed. lol. =]
Reply:well... I only watched a little of the first one and it seemed the problem was that she was a bit herd sour... she made it seem like all she wanted to do was hang out with her herd or her "friends"... also make sure that she dosnt have any problems with her hooves like a rock stuck in one of her hooves... %26amp; lol... ur smart w/ the bright yellow sweater... thats a good idea cuz wouldnt gettin shot just make ur day!!! jk...
Reply:Honestly I really didn't see anything wrong. My horse only does that sometimes when it's very windy outside and by the sound from the camera, it was pretty windy. You kept your cool which seemed to help the horse. I would just work on building your horse's confidence and I really think ya'll will be in good shape.

Your horse looked like a mix breed, lol that's my best guess :)
Reply:He is really pretty. 4 yr old's need lots of patience. I got my horse when he was 5, and he is still a total baby.
Reply:He looks just like a Morgan/ Arabian cross I had years ago. My first impression is that he is a little bit bratty, but nothing serious and his rider seems to be able to handle him just fine. I think he will be fine with some work!!
Reply:It looks like he is a little " barn sour" or "herd sour" . You handled it well. I say give him what he wants...take him to the herd. And when you get there, keep his feet moving..do small circles..large circles..figure 8's anything to keep his feet going, then ride away from the herd %26amp; stop to let him rest a bit. Soon he will learn that being with the herd can be work %26amp; going where you want is a better place to be. He won't learn this in one day , keep it up, he will learn.
