Do British videos work on French video players?

Are French video recorders different to British ones and will a British video play on a French system? Somebody on eBay (French) wants to buy some videos from me (British) and I need to know that they will work. Thanks xx

Do British videos work on French video players?
If you are talking video tape then no

if you are talking dvd then yes as they are Region 2

which covers Europe.
Reply:i dont think so. Most modern videoplayers have the option to switch between types though.
Reply:No NO No No NO unless your player can play all regions.

Region code Area

Region 0 Informal term meaning "playable in all regions", "region free" or simply "all regions". There is no region 0 code as such; instead, every region code flag is set, making the disc playable worldwide.[1]

Region 1 Bermuda, Canada, the Cayman Islands, United States and U.S. territories

Region 2 Albania, Andorra, Austria, Bahrain, Belarus, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Canary Islands, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Egypt, Estonia, European Union, Faroe Islands, Finland, France, French Guiana, Georgia, Germany, Gibraltar, Greece, Greenland, Hungary, Iceland, Iran (Islamic Republic of), Iraq, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Jordan, Kuwait, Latvia, Lebanon, Lesotho, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Macedonia (the Former Yugoslav Republic), Malta, Moldova, Principality of Monaco, Montenegro, Netherlands, Norway, Oman, Poland, Portugal, Qatar, Romania, Russian Federation, San Marino, Saudi Arabia, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Africa, Spain, Swaziland, Sweden, Switzerland, Syrian Arab Republic, Turkey, Ukraine, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom (Channel Islands) Vatican City State, Yemen

Region 3 Southeast Asia, Hong Kong, Macau, South Korea, and Taiwan

Region 4 Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Central America, the Caribbean, Mexico, Oceania, and South America (except French Guiana)

Region 5 The rest of Africa, Former Soviet Union, the Indian subcontinent, Mongolia, and North Korea, Seychelles

Region 6 Mainland China

Region 7 Reserved for future use (found in use on protected screener copies of MPAA-related DVDs, and "media-copies" of pre-releases in Asia)

Region 8 International venues such as aircraft, cruise ships, etc.[1]
Reply:it depends on the the encoding. in UK we use PAL but apparently france use something called SECAM

"The system used in North America is NTSC. Western Europe, Australia and Eastern South America use PAL. Eastern Europe and France use SECAM"

my guess is they will not work.
Reply:British Tapes are recorded in PAL, French are in NTSC, I think. Your player may play both if you are lucky.
Reply:The SECAM system works perfectly well on PAl screens, but in black and white.

BUT a SECAM video recorder will not play PAL VHS tapes, unless it's multi format.
Reply:no chance mate!

over in france they use the secam sytem where as the uk use pal ty system.

the frenchman will only be able to watch your vids if he has a vcr that plays pal and a compatible tv (luckily lots of modern flat screens are multi system these days).

you can get vcr that play all systems for around 150euros but obviosly you would be slightly mad for the sake of a few videos

Videos will stop buffering if i don't move my mouse. If i move my mouse around the video starts to buffer.

For some odd reason flash videos will stop buffering if i don't move my mouse around, but if i start moving the mouse over the video it starts to buffer. What could be the problem?

I have managed to download videos as flv. but they wont play on the standard player (i have downloaded an flv player and the videos work on that, but i have to be able to play the videos on a school computer, which is blocked from downloading any kind of player from the internet.) The online videos are not playing! How can I get it to play? (Windows Media Player format)?

Whenever I try to watch a video on a website, e.g. pandachute.com, the videos, which are on Windows Media Player format (I have WMP 11) does not play the video. I've tried pressing play again and again, and I've also refreshed the page, but it doesn't work! What can I do to make it work so that I can watch those WMF formatted videos online???? For those it concern - don't bother replying with two-lined unhelpful answers just so you can get points. This is a serious question!

Terrorist Kidnapping Videos?

The terrorists give the videos to AlJezzera (i personally think has a link to terrorism) then they air them on the TV. IF they didnt air the video, do you think they would still be kidnapping people? Terrorists dont have the equipment to air the videos on live television themselves, so why not just stop airing the videos?

Terrorist Kidnapping Videos?
Of course the terrorists wouldn't do it if they didn't get publicity.

I don't know if Al Jazerra has a direct link to terorism, but they are sympathic to the terrorists' causes.
Reply:Because airing the videos probably gives them good ratings. If they didn't air the videos another network they compete with would. I agree though, that airing those videos is wrong.
Reply:I agree. I think that Al Jezeera is a large part of the problem, as opposed to being part of the solution.
Reply:Very right, they use the public to get what they want. Those videos should be handle in secret not showing it to the world and making the terrorists appear larger then life; that's what they want

How can you watch videos embedded in websites using Internet Explorer 7?

Since I installed internet explorer 7, I cant not view videos embedded in websites. Flash videos I can but windows media player videos dont play. For example, http://www.pluno.com/v-15382-my-curse.ph... is a music video. It plays in firefox but not in IE7. But in IE7 it actually does show a video, but its just a short loop of Yahoo music ad or something. It doesnt make any sense to me why it would do this and then play fine using Firefox instead. Any ideas?

How can you watch videos embedded in websites using Internet Explorer 7?
You said that there is a loop of yahoo music and you can'tt watch videos through IE7. I know the solution. it's not a problem in your IE7. It's problem in your security settings of IE7. I'll tell you in steps.

01.Click right side on your Internet explorer icon on desktop

02.Select 'properties'

03.Select "privacy"

04.There is adjustable bar. Adjust it until it displays"Medium high"

05.Then do the same thing regarding "Security" option in properties menu.

Your problem will be solved. Thank you
